Francis William Bourdillon

法蘭西斯˙布狄倫(Francis William Bourdillon, 1852-1921)，出生於英國薩謝克斯郡的布汀頓(Sussex, Buddington) 附近，係維多利亞時期的詩人與翻譯家。他曾就讀牛津大學烏斯特學院（Worcester College, Oxford），嗣後擔任德國克利司琛王子(Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein)諸子之教師。他出版過數本詩集，例如《花間及其他詩篇》(Among the Flowers, and Other Poems, 1878)等。他亦翻譯法國文學作品，並研究法國早期的經典作品《玫瑰傳奇》(Roman de la Rose)。

本詩是其最著名的詩篇，詩人以對比呈現的技巧，闡釋愛情滋潤人生的偉力。夜空繁星燦爛，固然美麗炫目；太陽無私覆的普照，方能賦予地球能量與生命。準此，理性多竅，觀照外在世界，開創多姿多彩的繁華世界；然而唯有心靈浸淫於愛之潤澤，仁心寬厚，民胞物與，才能賦予人生無限的活力與光彩。
